Oxford English Dictionary:

~est (the superlative) the highest degree of comparison; an exaggerated or hyperbolical expression of praise

Doodlest is a female artist based in London.

Her doodles draw their inspiration from André Breton's Surrealist Manifesto encouraging 'psychic automatism': the act (or non-act in fact) of renouncing all means of control or reason by letting the hand decide the fate of the mark.

Upon completing her BA(Hon) in Fine Arts in 2005, many years of mainly producing fanatical figurative work ensued and the idea of 'letting go' became increasingly appealing and challenging.

Doodlest's doodles start off as one thing, then subsequently and unashamedly morph into another. They uninhibitedly take on some amorphous form, but regularly consist of smaller parts resembling bits of machinery or man-made artefacts. This delicate balance between the organic and geometric, nature and machine, seems to be a deeply ingrained part of our modern psyche and the artwork portrays this inseparable link between the two binaries. The doodle becomes a mini-cosmos.

These pseudo-organisms come alive in work meetings, doctor's waiting rooms, on the bus or whilst on the phone. Pure thoughtful non-thought. Manifested in paint. In a sense therefore Doodlest's doodles are just as real and relevant as any self-portrait.
